Respiratory Muscle Breathing Trainer

Most training plans work the legs, arms and core, then leave the muscles that actually move air completely alone. This trainer goes after those. You breathe in and out through it against adjustable resistance, the same idea as lifting a weight, except the muscles doing the work are your diaphragm and the ones between your ribs. Two dials set the resistance separately, one for breathing in and one for breathing out, with eight steps on each. That matters more than it sounds, because most people are far weaker in one direction than the other and a single-dial trainer makes you compromise. Start low on both and move up only when the current step stops feeling like work. There are two mouthpieces in the case. The nozzle type you hold to your lips, and the biting type stays put on its own so your hands are free while you walk, stretch or lift. The whole kit packs into a hard case roughly the size of a glasses case, with a nose clip and a spare inside. Rinse the parts under the tap after a session and stand them somewhere airy to dry. Choose green or black.
